What it is

Routine foot care includes checking the skin and nails, trimming and filing toenails, and discussing everyday foot health. It can help when reaching your feet or using nail tools has become difficult.

Risks and concerns

Overgrown nails can catch on socks or press against footwear. Cutting too short or digging into nail edges can injure nearby skin. Diabetes, reduced sensation and circulation problems affect which care is appropriate.

Treatment and support options

Options include supported self-care, scheduled nursing visits, and medical or podiatry assessment for changes that need further investigation.

How I can help

I review your concerns and relevant health history, inspect your feet, and provide nail trimming, filing and suitable skin care with your consent. I explain what I find and agree on priorities with you.

Follow-up and care considerations

We choose a follow-up interval around nail growth, symptoms and your ability to manage between visits. Tell me about discomfort during care so I can adjust or stop. New wounds or worsening pain need assessment.
